The Zoho Projects team have been very busy though.... and have just released a new and improved app for iPad and Android devices!

Not only does the new app come with a revamped user interface, it allows you to perform many of the tasks that you can do when in your office using a laptop.

One of the most popular features of Zoho Projects is the ability to view tasks in the so-called 'Kanban View'. This is now available on the mobile app and it allows you to rearrange tasks by dragging and dropping them to different columns.

A new Home Page allows you to focus on where you want to get to quickly and easily.Tasks are organised into a more intuitive category focused view.

You can now attach files to comments that you add to tasks, and not just one but multiple files, for example attaching a document to a design related task or images to an inspection related task.

Tasks and sub tasks can be created on the mobile app and you can also log time against them, which is very handy for time tracking when it is so easy to forget to log time and do so accurately if you leave it for too long or until you get back to the office, now you can do it on your mobile device and reduce the risk of loss of data. In addition you can also attach documents to Tasks.

You can now view Tasks in a minimalist compact view or detailed view.

Record timesheet data right from your mobile app, allowing you to keep track of your daily/weekly/monthly timesheet data. You can enter the hours spent on tasks or even use the inbuilt timer. This is perfect for people who work on projects out in the field, for example on construction or field inspection type activities.

It is now easier than ever to view Documents while on the go using your new Zoho Projects mobile app. Documents are displayed by folder, sorted and accessed directly from your mobile device.

I was going to develop the title with “new and easier” and if you are an existing Zoho Projects user you will know what I mean.

Without going into any details all I will say was that document management in Zoho Projects was clunky and leave it at that! 

Now we have an authentic, real deal document management application built into Zoho Projects. And it is powered by Zoho Docs.

Perhaps, I hear one or two “so what’s? 

Well the so what is, and many people may not be aware of this, you not only get a full blown document management application, you also get access to Zoho Writer, Zoho Sheet, and Zoho Show.

And that means you can create new documents, spreadsheets and presentations and collaborate, communicate and share them with your colleagues online, both internal and external, online.

You can now easily manage all your documents by uploading them into nested folders.

And then you can edit them using documents using Zoho Writer,Zoho Sheet, and Zoho Show document editors.

File sharing now becomes much easier too and when you create a document within Zoho Projects or upload it from an external device it is automatically shared to all project members. 

And that means your project team members,even external ones such as your customers and consultants, no matter where they are, can quickly and easily view and collaborate on the latest version of the document.    

But wait, it really does get better as you can now have more than one person working on the same document at the same time right within Zoho Projects.

So for example you need to get your customer to agree to a change to a project brief. A quick call to customers, collaborate and agree with them on the changes together, and save it. And rather than the call you can use the online document chat window.

Versioning? Of course. The document’s revision history allows you to return to, or check with, your previous versions. Now that is not only document management versioning; that is document management versioning right within your project management application.

From day one at Mangoho we have been using Zoho Projects for both for our internal tasks and projects and our customer’ projects. 

Indeed all of the planning behind the launch of our company was managed by Zoho projects.

And what that means is that you can see if the work hours are below, near to or above the total available hours. 

In a neat touch a “see saw” GUI representation is presented to users showing allocated time vis a vis free time at either end.

Service Level Agreement Automation.

If your organization guarantees an SLA then at some point in time during a project your customers are going to be waiting for a reply from you.

So with the introduction of SLA automation into Zoho Projects we can make every possible attempt to make sure that responses can be met according to the terms of the SLA. 

With Zoho Project you can easily set up automated escalations based on agreed criteria so that contractual compliance can be made wherever possible. 

Furthermore particular actions can also be automatically generated so that, for example, a specific user with the correct level of expertise is assigned to a specialized user. 

Zoho Projects supports 4 levels of escalations with each one supporting up to 10 automated actions.

Zoho Projects integration with Zoho Books. 

Existing users of Zoho Projects will already know that they can generate invoices from within times entered into Zoho Projects. 

For all you SMBs and one man operations out there you can imagine how much time that saves! 

On something that is absolutely essential for the survival of the business but almost without fail is approached with trepidation with an added touch tedium. 

So you can imagine how much your accountants are going to love you more now that Zoho Projects is integrated with Zoho Books.

Zoho Projects with video.

In case you had not seen it (it is quite easy to miss), Zoho Projects, the online project management software for small businesses, has a cool 'widgets' function that can be used to get a snapshot view of the project when on the Dashboard (home) page.

Look in the top right of the Dashboard page... see it? Good!

Simply click the widgets icon and then select the widgets you want to see, then order them in the order you want to see them in, then save!

This will allow you to get a better insight into the project and help you with project tracking.

If you have not yet noticed it, we recommend trying out the Zoho Projects Google Chrome extension!

Using this extension you can view the feeds from your project portal without having to log into Zoho Projects. This is perfect for team members of PMs who are working on other stuff but who still need to know status of tasks, comments and so on.

You can even add tasks or forum posts directly from this addon!
